Old gas fireplace has a pilot held open by a Thermopile (not a thermocouple) If the pilot goes out how long till the gas flow to the pilot stops. It was spewing gas out for over 2 minutes

over 2 minutes is pretty much too long.
It is all about temperature which generates the millivolts to activate the magnet, and normally without heat the mv go down quickly.
Something is making it stuck and that is dangerous.

180 seconds.. even 90 seconds would fill fireplace up with gas. This fireplace has glass doors that slide open. This would easily cause an explosion if someone went to relight pilot 2 minutes after it went out
