I’m going to tile over existing tile in the shower. I have a snap in strainer. The shower drain extension kits are set up for screw in strainers. Is there another way to do this?

I've never seen that done. I wonder if someone at the JohnBridge tile forums would have an idea.

The adjustable extension of a clamping shower drain body can be removed and replaced.. its difficult, but doable. Lots of tapping with a hammer and blunt chisel like object to rotate the old one out. Then replace with any similarly threaded drain extension. Verify the diameter first.
