Currently, I have a lay flat hose connected to my Superior Pump w/vertical float switch. It sits in a 12" wide by 14" deep terracota sump pit from the 50's. It works great at removing the ground water from the pit after a heavy rain, except that the hose tends to retract and I have to keep pulling it out from the crawlspace or the water will end up in the crawlspace well where the hatch is. The sump pump is in an encapsulated crawlspace with a dehumidifier.
I'd like to attach a 1.5" threaded male adapter to the discharge outlet, add a check valve and run 1.5" pvc out to a concrete patio (sloped away from home).
1) Should I drill a hole through a rim joist and the siding, or through the foundation block?
2) Should I put a 90 degree elbow once outside?
I plan to have the pipe come out near a hose bib. We generally only have water in the pit after really heavy rain, like the remnants of hurrican Debby. I don't believe the pump will be needed in the winter months, so I'm not concerned with making a skating rink on the patio.
