Hello everyone,

First off, it’s been a while since I have visited the site and I am sorry to hear about Terry. Be assured of my prayers for him and your family.
I must apologize, but I must press on to the issue at hand.
I would like to grab your opinion on a p-trap install I would like to incorporate into an existing drain for a washer in the laundry room.
Purpose is to set another p-trap just above and opposing the existing trap to install a utility sink.
Please refer to the attached photo of what I have and the planned install.
My appreciation in advance.

No, p-traps are never in series. There is an allowance in the IRC/IPC to do what you propose (attach a utility sink to a laundry standpipe) without a trap outside the wall. Both the laundry sink and the standpipe share the one trap inside the wall.

Cheers, Wayne

Wayne, I appreciate your chiming in and lending your guidance.
Even though I am not skilled in this trade, I can clearly see what you are referring to and makes sense.
Definitely, makes things much easier as well…
Thank you.
Blessings for a Happy New Year to all.
