hello all

I have a new construction house which we just purchased and it came with a navien tankless hw heater. A remodeling contractor who came by said he had the same system in his house and recommended we install a filter on it due to the hard water in the town.

We had a rinnai at our old place and never had a filter installed.

Wanted to get your thoughts as to if this is necessary or recommended

The company that installed it said that navien recommends it for well water and that the cost would be $500 but again we are on town water

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

$500 is very low for a water softener installed. How hard is your water? If the town does not publish that on the web, call and ask. You can also get a Hach 5-B and accurately measure hardness at home.
