Hi, I am trying to help a friend with this issue.

Not sure if this is helpful, but tested with shower 2 floors above water heater. It took 10seconds from turning shower on, until unit turned on, then another 2 minutes before hot water reached the shower. I believe it takes longer than that if it has not been used in a while.

The switch for recirculation is set to internal, and the dip switched are below. (I saw a post for setting it to external recirculation, but I don't think this is setup the same.

If anyone has any advice on what I might try or if settings below are correct that would be great.

Thanks!

Update: I can see that the hotwater out is split. One part goes to the house while the other arm goes into the internal setup/distribution of the AC/heat pump system (large unit is outside the house).

For the way the recirculation is set up, dip switch 1 should be on, 2 and 3 off. 3 is only on if an external pump is wired into and controlled by the water heater. Not sure why someone would configure the recirculation that way and not use the built in pump and return port. The two way valve should be set to internal as well. The external pump is what recirculates the water. How is it controlled? By a timer, always on, aquastat?

Its just nuts to not use the built in pump and dedicated recirc. port. It should be re-plumbed as per the manual.

Thank you for this. The two way valve is set to internal, but the dipswitches do not match with using the internal pump. I do not see any wires go out of the unit to control anything (external pump or timers etc.). Have a plumber coming later this week, that can hopefully explain how it works for me! Thank you!
