I have the cleanest galvanized pipes in the world!

Seriously, they are like brand new inside and this place was built late '40's. Over the past 20 years I have done a good bit of remodeling and alterations and have yet to see any buildup in any of the galvanized I have touched. I have always wondered if it's because I have well water and if so, why. As far as my water there is zero taste or smell. just a bit of iron.

I can go in any home in the north burbs where I work that's on Lake Michigan water and find galvanized nipples on a HW HTR I replaced only 15-20 years ago already loaded up.

Decades ago they used Yalloy Galvanized piping and it was impervious to most water supplies.

It was hot dipped into Zinc to afford better protection
