Hello! I have recently installed a new water softener and and the installer had to replace the controller because of a faulty touchscreen. The problem I have is that I had two different technicians that actually input two different and very different settings for my system and I am a bit confused now as to what settings are the right ones. I’m particularly concerned with the draw and rapid rinse times which seem to be off by what most people recommend in this forum (that said my knowledge about softener is very limited so I was hoping to get some help)

My hardness is 25 gpG and on the green sticker near the injector it says .12 GPM and 37 lbs salt min. We are two people in the house.

The rest of the settings can be seen as they come in the controller interface in the posted pictures, as well as a photo of the injector.

The softener is up flow and dual media filter (suspect activated carbon filter) and the brochure can be found here, which will hopefully be helpful in this case.

I would be very grateful if somebody could take a look at those settings and maybe make recommendations. Thanks so much in advance!

What is the water source? Private well or municipal supply?

If private well, what is the level of iron and Manganese if any?

How did you determine the hardness level to be 25 gpg?

One of your photos indicates 1 cubic foot of media. Is the media tank 9" diameter X 48" high?

The programming currently indicates Brine Fill first followed by a 120 minutes delay to allow salt to dissolve. This is the recommended sequence when using Potassium Chloride as the regenerate, but if using Sodium Chloride (common softener salt), the regeneration cycle length maybe substantially reduced. What regenerant are you using?

Each regeneration cycle is currently programmed to begin at 4am? Is there a reason for delaying the regeneration start to 4 am? The default programmed start time is 2am.

Thanks so much for your reply!

It is municipal supply. There was a map of the area indicating the different hardness of water in the different areas and mine was 25 gpg.

That is correct, the tank is 9'' diameter and 48'' high.

it is Sodium Chloride because the tank is filled with regular softener salt for regeneration. Is there any harm waiting 120 minutes if it's Sodium Chloride instead of Potassium. how long would you recommend I set it to for that step?

No reason to have 4am. Probably the person who configured it set that time without asking me

Do you think the cycle times reasonable for the water hardness I have? they definitely altered the defaults. What about draw time and backwash?

Thanks so much again!
