Does house refrigerator R134a refrigerant have an odor?

Our 2020 year LG side-by-side had an odor which I assumed was wife's food.
(She is Chinese. Her native foodshould be in BIOHAZARD bags.)

But a few days later, the refrigerator stopped cooling.
(I keep the coil and coil fan blade clean.)
The compressor is clean and sounds/feels like it is running.
The inside coilooks clean and intact.

my fridge froze up and became sorta warmish mine was a samsung but I fopund out it wasent properly defrosting and found a cure on you tube.

Refrigerators hold very little refrigerant my 22' holds 5 oz. Look on the name tag in the refrigerator section. If a ounce is lost frig might stop cooling. Your not going to smell it. A open flame turns refrigerate into phoshine gas but that would be stretch. Could have a defrost timer or fan not working. With model number can look up a timer see what it looks seach parts. Pull the very bottom panel in the front usually there in there. They have a shaft that turns look where the notch is come back in a hour or two see if it moved.

The cooling coil has no ice and is clean andry. This LG holds only 4.76 ounces!
The cooling coil fan ispinning and slows to a stop when I open the door.
Theat exchanger coil does not get warm when the refrigerator is running.

Our garage GE Profile refrigerator's cooling coil heater element has apparently failed.
To melthe ice I unplug the refrigerator.
Shall testheating element with a volt/ohmeter when I can geto it or find its circuit.
On the freezer door, the status lights indicate Defrost Error.
