Can someone tell me what pipe #3 is. Does it have to be there? It goes up from my condensate pump turns 90 degrees, runs along side of the furnace and then turns up 90 degrees and is open on the top.

Line #1 is from a dehumidifier. Line #2 is from the hvac unit.

The condensate pump seems to be sticking in "on", so I'm thinking about replacing it, but it is not elevated, so Line #3 makes removal not so easy (for a novice). I'd like to just remove Line #3 if it isn't needed.

Thank you for any comments.
Mitch

It seems to set up as a vent pipe. As the small tank fills and empties, air must escape or be replaced for the small tank, but it could have been set up for another application such as a hybrid water heater.

Would it function as a vent without the pvc pipe there at all, with just the open hole in the condensate pump?

Need more pics of furnace and where pipes originate.
I'll take better pics tomorrow. This is all I have at the moment. Line 1 is the dehumidifier pipe, exiting the side of the dehumidifier, going under it and into the condensate pump. Line 2 is out of the side of the furnace and goes straight down into the pump. Pipe 3 is the one I was hoping to just remove, so I can easily replace the condensate pump. O can't figure out what the difference is between having pipe 3 in place and just having nothing there but an open hole.

By looking into the fitting just see if it's smooth all the way through or a raised edge in the middle. Raised edge has a stop in it. These fittings are very forgiving. Look at a ratchet cutter makes cutting pvc easy. Everything should be in plumbing ask for help.

Gotcha. I was assuming it wasn't smooth all the way through. Thanks again.
