Is it possible to replace a faucet drain assembly (pop-up) (and forgive me if my terminology isn't correct...housewife with no experience in plumbing :) on a pedestal sink WITHOUT taking the sink/base/any part of sink off of the wall? I'm updating our hall bath and was able to replace the old brass faucet with a new ORB faucet and the matching drain and drain assembly that comes with the faucet....well i'm having issues trying to figure out HOW I get up in the back to replace that? I really don't want to pull the sink off the wall....like a dummy I just recaulked it when we painted and I wanted to see if there's anyway to NOT pull off before I go about ripping it from the wall.

Thanks!!

It CAN be done, but it is very difficult and you might need some specialized tools to remove the locknuts, etc., on the drain fitting. I would only attempt it if that was the only way to do it, and it would be expensive given the amount of time it would take.

Thank you for your response! I think I'm going to just do that...if it's gonna cost more and take more time then might as well, makes sense.

Thanks again

If the bowl is bolted to the wall with a generous amount of thread showing, you may be able to loosen the nuts, cut the caulk, and oogie the pedestal forward while lifting the bowl. Let the bowl rest on the pedestal tilted up while you swap out the pop-up assembly.
