Back draft problem

My old furnace used to have exhaust joined below water heater exhaust. Now with the new replaced new gas furnace 80%, they connect the shared exhaust like the picture with both at the same height and angle. If water heater and furnace are on at the same time, for the first 30 second, furnace is not hot, then I will have backdraft problem?
