    Moen hydrolock - what is this piece that fell out?

    I was replacing the faucet pull-out hose and after disconnecting the hydrolock fitting, this little thing fell out. It seems like it was part of the hydrolock fitting. Does anyone know what it is? Is this piece necessary for the faucet to work?
