Is .35 ppm chlorine level high enough to rate filtering pre-water softener?

I'm glad for you - living here, I sometimes forget how nice it is. I'm sure you'll have a blast. If you want any site-seeing tips, let me know. PM me where you're staying and what kinds of activities you're interested in, and I can make some suggestions. Hell, if you want you can come to my...

Is .35 ppm chlorine level high enough to rate filtering pre-water softener?

Thanks ditttohead and Reach4 for your input! I'm going to go with the filter and use the 10%. Probably overkill, but anything worth doing is worth overdoing, lol. In line with the overkill theme, I'd like to pair it with a Fleck 5800 or 5810, although the 5600 would probably be just fine...

Is .35 ppm chlorine level high enough to rate filtering pre-water softener?

Getting ready to put in a water softener and was advised to install a GAC filter to remove chlorine ahead of the softener. I have city water (no iron) and chlorine level range of .22-.35 ppm with a running annual average of .30 ppm. Is this high enough to rate installing a filter? (I live in...

Hi ditttohead - I'm planning to install a water softening and filtering system in my house but...

Hi ditttohead - I'm planning to install a water softening and filtering system in my house but am choking on the prices being quoted by the few non-big box store dealers here in Hawaii. Best quote so far is $4K for a Fleck 5600 SXT and 1.5 cuft backwash carbon filter. That doesn't include...

    Bathroom exhaust duct sizing

Hi all, I think this is the correct forum for these questions - if not, let me know and I'll lift and shift. Question #1: If most of a bathroom exhaust duct run is 3" diameter steel pipe, is there any benefit to having bigger duct (4"-6" round galvanized steel) at either end, and/or a bigger...

    Noisy Toto Ultramax

Sorry for slow reply - have been swamped with work and other honey-do projects. I checked my water pressure (it's good), partially closed the stop valve to reduce refill flow, lowered the refill level, removed the velcro strips and added a silicon strip around the top edge of the tank. All of...

    Noisy Toto Ultramax

The tank lid just kind of sits on top of the tank rather than overlapping the edges like most other brand toilets do. There are two velcro strips on the back edge, I'm assuming to keep the lid from being bumped off. They do however cause a gap at the back of the lid. You can see one of them...

    Noisy Toto Ultramax

Great suggestions, thanks! I guess I should have thought about a flapper replacement myself, but as they’re brand new, it didn’t occur to me. I’ll have to check to see if there’s a fill differential between the bowl and the tank. I’ll also try your suggestion with the valve.

    Noisy Toto Ultramax

To start, I'd like to thank Terry and all of the contributors here - this site is where I've learned the majority of my (limited) plumbing skills over the years. Here's my problem: I just replaced two Sterling toilets with Toto Ultramaxs. While I like the look, and the fit is perfect, I'm...
