    Toto Guinevere

I've read a lot a good press on this forum regarding Toto's in general. I have a small bathroom with a 14" rough-in. I would like to get an ADA compliant toilet which means it will be elongated (which always adds 2" to the depth). I especially like the Toto Guinevere because it is 28-1/4" in...

ABS to PVC under new vanity

When my old vanity was removed, the plumber did not keep the old ABS trap. I now have the ABS piping coming out of my wall with the threaded elbow. My question is "can I use a PVC trap to connect the old plumbing to my new sink? If the answer is "no", what is your recommended action? Thanks!

Sweating mystery -what did I do wrong?

I turned on the water, and NO LEAKS! :D If I were to experience a failure in the connection, when might it happen? I am typically very optimistic, but since I'm an abolute novice at sweating a joint, I don't want to be overly sure of myself either. Thanks!

Sweating mystery -what did I do wrong?

:) I went to HD and got the Oakley flux and just finished up the job. I cleaned everything thoroughly, applied the flux and sweated in both connections on the elbow one right after the other. Both joint drew in the solder and I believe that I should have some leakproof connections. (At...

Sweating mystery -what did I do wrong?

Thanks for the great advice! You've given me the confidence to pull this apart and try again. :) I'll hop in the car now and go over to HD now to pick it up. BTW: I've read that you should solder both sides of an elbow at one time (rather than doing one side and waiting for it to cool...

Sweating mystery -what did I do wrong?

The thought of soldering the opposite side of the elbow without knowing it is intriguing. How can this happen, knowing that I soldered one side and let it cool down, and then attempted to solder the other side of the elbow to the supply pipe? I was using the water soluble flux that came...

Sweating mystery -what did I do wrong?

I'm a newbie to sweating - so please be kind. I'm installing cutoff valves under my vanity (a job that should have been done when the house was built). After practicing the sweating technique many times, I thought I was ready to do the project. The configuration is simple -- (1) connect a...

    dripping toilet cut off valve

Thanks for your input. I'd prefer to make sure that the job is done right. All of the other water supplies are copper, so I would assume this is also copper? however, it's chrome in color. Is there a sleeve fitted over the copper pipe? You mention using a sleeve puller to remove the back nut...

    dripping toilet cut off valve

I'm a newcomer to posting for help - But boy do I need help! I'm working on a bathroom project that seems to have no end at this point. Actually, it's a complete remodel, and the only thing in the bathroom at this time is the tub. My problem is that the tube that would normally lead up to...
