Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

What would be the proper assortment of fittings to make a test cap cleanout integrated with the trap adapter so I wouldn't have to pull the trap apart to get in there?

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

You are correct. Not enough clearance. Where would you locate a cleanout? maybe a wye upstairs by trap adapter? or maybe in middle of line like the one you linked. Would a cleanout like I drew up (combo wye) work where the drain pipe does a 90 turn (horizontal to horizontal) no change in plane...

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

I meant to say combo wye, not santee. Something like this but now thinking about it, there won't be enough clearance between it and wall

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

Thank you. For the 1-1/2 "long sweep" could I just use a combo santee and have the back capped for a cleanout? Yes, I think I will put the new trap adapter bend to the right side of the stud because I'm also adding a garbage disposal and my sink drain is way towards the back of the sink so...

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

I see. Yea that’s where they cut off the old drain and did not cap it. Can feel the breeze there and see daylight. I never noticed it before as there were storage shelves stacked to the top.

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

No cap there. It's a copper san-tee vented to roof. The connection seems to be sound. I can test it or maybe better to just replace that entire copper san tee with a new pvc long sweep san tee. The 2" pvc (the new one they put in) runs two bays over from where the copper ran before. So I'll...

Why cover existing vented drain in a wall and then reroute everything through an S-trap

I was going to put in a cheater vent to fix an S-trap under my kitchen sink. But then I decided to open up the wall just to see as there was a random vent on the roof in nearby location. Behind the wall, I discovered an existing vented drain that was just hacked off and covered with cabinetry...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

Do you mean deflection coming from above or below? The retaining tabs are still intact on the top of the ss ring so any deflection from toilet side down isn’t possible. The pipe can’t move down past the ring. The three bottom tabs are indeed gone, so theoretically if someone was pushing up on...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

Went to Fergusson today - the Sioux Chief 886-PTMS does indeed lie flat without the 1/8 lip found on the Oatey. However, the spigot end is significantly shorter. By like an inch. Given my waste pipe hub isn't flush with the top of the finished floor, I really needed the length of the Oatley...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

This drove me crazy enough where I just took off the ss ring from the pvc entirely to properly measure how much the offset was between the inner and outer circumference. The offset is ~.05 in, which is too short to make up for the plastic sticking down 1/8". But then carefully looking at the...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

Thanks! I will check it out in person at fergusson tomorrow. I think it may be a manufacturing tolerance issue. The cross section drawing of the oately also shows that the inner circumference of the SS ring is offset by 1/8" such that once in place, the outer ss ring circumference will be...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

From the second photo on supplyhouse, it's essentially the same exact design at the oatley one - the ss ring is held in place by three tabs below the ss ring and that is where the 1/8" comes from. Just seems like an odd design. I may stop by fergusson tomorrow to see it in person. I think I...

"Correct" rough-in hole for Oatey SS spigot flange causes it to float 1/8" above tile

Where the Oatey closet flange is supposed to sit on top of finished tile is actually 1/8" lower than the actual SS ring. If installed as per Oatey, SS ring ends up floating 1/8" above tile. No good. If rough-in hole enlarged to accommodate the pvc portion into the rough in hole, then there's not...

Does AAV have to be directly inline with through-floor drain?

Does an AAV have to sit directly in vertical line with a drain going through floor or can the vent be routed a bit to the side? Current through floor drain is off-center below sink and if I place an AAV directly over the the drain, I can't really go up much before hitting the bottom of the sink...
