Water pump not filling pressure tank

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a hobby farm 3 yr ago and I've got no experience with a bladder lined water tank and pump.

Originally we were losing water pressure gradually over about 2 weeks. I could hear the pump staying on for long periods of time at night and as of a couple days ago there was no water coming through the faucets at all.

We tried changing the pressure switch on the pump (small box on the side of pump with all of the wires) and the pump would come on for about 10 seconds and shut off. Water pressure in tank would not get above 10-15 psi.

We then replaced the pump and the water pressure will rise to about 25 psi but the tank doesn't fill. Water will come out of faucets but with very little pressure.

Could this be an indication that the bladder is damaged? Any suggestions as of what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Low pressure is a pump or well problem. A bad tank would only cause the pump to cycle on and off rapidly. Low pressure with a new jet pump usually means a suction leak or the well is not producing any water. Do you know how much pressure that pump should build? A pump model would help.

Looks like lots of water in the well. We replaced the foot valve. Only getting up to 30 psi and should build to 50 psi. The holding tank is not filing up. When the pump is on i get water from the facets but no pressure and when the pump if off no water at all will come out of the faucets. The pump is a Myers model # HJ50CE-K
