The scene: Neighbor says their well isn't working. (Dry? leaking? broken? dunno.) A boring truck appears in yard to make a big hole. A new wide-cap (spread your hand) appears in Neighbor's aforementioned yard. So, am assuming they read the whole megillah, so to speak.

Fast-forward one week: now our system is grumbling and carrying on. Am assuming that the pump's screen/filter could stand to be cleaned; that is after all the point of a screen/filter.

I know that mattresses and cars have sympathy pains; one of them pops a spring, they all have to do it. But is it true that work on a neighbor's well will stir up enough sand/crud/air to interfere with the workings of other people's wells/pumps/pipes?

What's with the sympathy-pains superstition? True, false, or depends?
