Hi,
I am installing a washing machine. I plan to have the pipe come 36" above the floor and am wondering if it's acceptable to locate the trap below the floor. Is this too far from the top of the standpipe?

Thanks for any replies :)

The trap needs to be on the same floor as the fixture.

When the standpipe is too long, it siphons.

According to the UPC the standpipe must be between 18-30 inches measured from the trap and the trap must be between 6-18 inches above the floor. You cannot locate the trap underneath the floor.
