Hello all,

I have an ongoing kitchen remodel.
I have experience with cabinets, flooring, drywall, and countertops but very little with plumbing.
So I apologize for some of my vagueness. I installed a new kitchen sink, double bowl same dimensions as previous sink but it was a single bowl. We added a in a new dishwasher and garbage disposal so I had to change some plumbing up.

Yesterday I got everything connected and checked for leaks all good.
Today come back to the project and after running water for a bit noticed a leak has developed in the basement from the main line the drain connects to and then started having slow drainage.

Any tips, tricks or ideas?

Your p-trap have no venting on it, or if so I don't see it.
In your situation an AAV is sometimes used for that. They install at least 4" above the trap arm.

How we normally plumb a kitchen sink.
2" cleanout
Vent can go horizontal 6" above the flood level of the sink.
Vent extends through the roof to the open air.

Thank you Terry!

Any knowledge on why an AAV was not needed with the original setup but is now?

However said in wasn't needed?

Just because it was wrong to begin with didn't make it right. One of the reasons I have this forum is that as a plumber that recognizes the mistakes out there that homeowners and handymen are doing, I wanted a place where we could show the correct way of doing things. Not just repeating the mistakes of the past but using education on how it should have been done.

They are being installed in most of the newer homes where they have Island sinks in the kitchen. They are working, and working well. Does it bother you that they are working so well? If you feel like it, you can come to the Seattle area and argue with the inspectors here. Won't do you much good though.
