Hey guys plumbing apprentice here, putting in joist radiant in my main level about 1000 sqf. About 40% of the flooring is ceramic tile and 60% hardwood. I know hardwood isn't ideal for efficiency, but id prefer to have it everywhere than have a combo of baseboard and radiant.

Now for the big question, underneath that hardwood is a thin layer of asbestos (the paper sheet style). Will this layer kill my heat transfer from the in-joist below? I know it will have a negative factor but i cant seem to find the r value or equivalent rating? The only thing working in my favor is the the subfloor is 1x6 rough cut planks spaced about 1"

Anybody have experience with this matter?
