Hello all-
Remodeling our laundry room and for the life of me I can’t figure out what the heck this thing is. Seems to be an old electric steam apparatus? Our home was built in 1955. Anyway, I’m curious about it- it drives me nuts and it has to come out. Any input on its origins and removal advice is appreciated!

Temperature activated valve control. It operates the valve at the end of the wire to open and close at a set temperature.
Looks like the valve is bypassed so it probably no longer working so can be cut out, and you will have to redo the piping or cap off.if no longer in use.
