I have an old double draining sink. It has 3 holes besides the 2 holes for the faucet. The fact they are right on two levels of the backsplash is a problem. A faucet company told me the 2 holes were for the faucet but had no idea what the other 3 holes were for. Does anyone know what they are for or how I could cover or convert them. I might think overflow but they are just open and not connected to anything.

Guessing: soap dish? Mounting bolts?

Hadn't thought of that. The two smaller holes are the faucet. I could use the other 3 as bolt holes if I could make them waterproof.
Thanks.
I suspect the two middle-size holes were originally used for the faucet controls, and the big hole for the spout.,
