Hello,
I am in Ontario, Canada. I would like to install the laundry tub in the photo in the basement of my 2-story house. My plan is to connect the tub drain to the 3" stack located to the right of the tub in the photo. The stack serves my 2nd storey ensuite consisting of a tub/separate shower/toilet/double sinks. I want to do this properly so that I do not have any issues with draining or with any inspections when I go to sell down the road (this is not a flip). The tub will be used for cleaning up after working and WILL NOT be connected to a washing machine.
My question is regarding the use of an AVV to assist with venting. There is no way I can connect a vent to the second floor vent line without doing major construction. Will and AVV be necessary and to code. I have a relative who is a licensed plumber (new) who will be helping me with the connection. He states that I do not need an AVV or any other vent. It is his view that the stack will serve as the vent. Everything I read here and elsewhere seems to indicate that he is incorrect. Any advice would be appreciated. TB
