Another washing machine shut off valve question. My currently leaky valve is a threaded boiler drain valve that is soldered on to the pipe. Is it better to replace with the same thing? Or should I get a compression valve? I haven’t seen any sweat type valves for washing machine shut off and only...

I can put them straight on the machine? To put on the valves would probably be awkward and they would end up horizontal. Is it true that it’s a code thing? I don’t think we have a problem with water hammer so don’t see why we need these.

Loosen it? Wouldn’t that make it leak more? Pretty sure he over tightened everything because now I went to remove the supply lines and those won’t budge either. Way overtightened. I’m pretty sure he would have told me if there was a leak, but I also think he would know not to tighten things so...

I think boiler drain valves it’s what’s there now so I think that would work

Also. What kind of valves do it need if I decide to purchase them myself to save a few bucks

Yes I’ve tried that. I’ll try that again. Hard to get the right position to get enough torque on it.

I think it’s a delta it’s at least 15 years old. The nut is a large plastic one. Not a gooseneck- it’s a pullout.

I was pulling hard enough so that the whole pipe seemed to be moving. Could I break something or should I just keep using force?

The screw comes out easily. It's the plastic piece that won't budge.

Yes the plastic is stuck to the pipe. The set screw is on the top and I did remove it to try to get the plastic off but I just put it back on for the time being in case I can't figure it out and have to keep using this one.
