The motor runs for 30 seconds. Like it's trying to suck up every last drop.

My new pump runs great!!! Except it seems to run for 30 seconds after the water is out of the well. I'm worried that the dry running of the pump will ruin it. Also it makes a very loud grinding noise that can be heard in every room in the house. any ideas?
