Did I wreck the toilet? ;)

You all are awesome. Thanks so much for the help! My condo is 1970ish. I don't care how the shut-off valve looks ;) so I'll just leave it. Now I have the confidence to do this without fearing I'll flood the downstairs bathroom! It's not a tricky enough job to have to call a real plumber, so...

Did I wreck the toilet? ;)

Thanks, Reach! I didn't know the supply line is usually replaced. Never did that, but it makes sense. So you think there could be a problem with the stop valve parts since I had the water turned off?

Did I wreck the toilet? ;)

I was going to replace all the innards of the toilet tank. I drained it and shut off the water. Then... I forgot about it for a month. Did I goof anything up by letting it dry out or can I replace the parts inside the tank now? ** ** (Without worrying I will start a gushing waterfall into...

Do I have to replace this pipe?

Thanks, Terry. I see that. Is it necessary or can I just blow it off? :) :) :) :) :)

Just wanted to thank you guys!

You helped me put in my garbage disposer a couple of weeks ago. Seriously. It's like you were physically here. Thanks boys and girls, okay, men and women, but it's so much more fun to say boys and girls. Ladies and gentlemen? Nah, boys and girls. I can't thank you enough :)

Do I have to replace this pipe?

Just looked at it. I'd have to cut an inch or two off the black plastic pipe that connects the disposer. Is it necessary, or just cosmetic? I wonder what the hell it was doing there in the first place ;)

Do I have to replace this pipe?

Oh, I get it; see if it will fit without the plastic piece. It didn't look like it when I put it together, but it's worth a try. Thank you!

Do I have to replace this pipe?

Jeff, could you please show me what you are talking about, that I should do? There was a metal extension piece where the plastic one was, but I couldn't get it out. Up top where I said "I can't get this locknut off." People did say that but I wasn't sure what they meant. It sounds like a good...

    Thanks, you guys!

I guess size does matter ;) So what you are saying, is that if I want to clean out the pipe going from the riser to my kitchen sink, I have to do the whole riser? The building has 5 floors. Sounds like a job for a plumber. Are any of you guys in Chicago, north side?

    Thanks, you guys!

The pop up stopper is harder! So much fiddling to get it just right, so the water stays in. Seriously, though, I think I am going to try to fix or replace a shut off valve that leaks. If I can't do that, I think my plumbing career will be over ;)

    Thanks, you guys!

Just because of you, I got my disposer installed. (I posted pictures on a different thread). Thanks for all the help!! You guys are awesome, and seriously, I could have never done it without you. Now.... I wonder if I could tackle the pipe from the riser in my condo that goes into my kitchen...

Do I have to replace this pipe?

Woot! Yay! Woot! Wanted to let you guys know what happened. I had that pipe that was jammed the heck in. No getting it out. Got a new piece of plastic pipe. Couldn't quite screw the metal p-trap onto the plastic, so I used a little pipe dope, hope that's okay on plastic pipes. I tried to...

Do I have to replace this pipe?

I tried a pipe wrench. Loosey lefty :( . That was just a photo, I wasn't turning it that way. Happy 4th!

Do I have to replace this pipe?

I can't get this locknut off :(. This was leaking so I wanted to replace the washer. So far I tried WD40 and heating it with a hairdryer. Do you guys know how? Well I know you do, but will you pretty please tell me how?
