Have the results from testing my well water. Bacteria (0)-Hydrogen Sulfide (0)-Total Nitrate (0)-Nitrate(0)-Chloride (0)- Sulfate (0)- Free Chlorine (0) - PH (5.8) - Total Alkalinity (40) - Total Chlorine (1.0) - Total Hardness (0) - Copper (2.0) - Iron (1.0). My well has 35' of water, 6" pipe. 90' depth. One person using it with one shower. Thanks in advance for all your help. Daisy

Daisy,
i question those 0 results. For what they tested there should be some levels there. I do remember you saying that you had iron bacteria. Iron removal resin will get fouled by iron bacteria so you need the water to be pre treated before it enters any kind of softenning unit. You are going to need an inline chlorinator mixed with soda ash to raise the ph. Some people recomend a static mixer if you dont have room for a retention tank. From the static mixer the water enters a carbon backwash filter that removes the chlorine that was injected and from there it goe into a softening unit. That would be my thought on it. I'm sure Gary can point you in the right direction with equipment and maybe he has a different opinion.

Low pH will help to explain the 2.0 ppm of Cu. I see 1.0 ppm of chlorine and that says there should be no iron, H2S or Coliform bacteria (although they say no free chlorine) and the pH can be off (high); .

Why is there chlorine in this well water?

Who did the testing?

Hey, wait a minute.
