Shower goes cold...

Hey folks, While taking a shower, it'll go cold periodically, then back to regular, then cold, etc. We have a large water heater. THe shower valve is single handle, could it be the valve??

You could have some crud in the line that is moving back and forth with pressure changes, or tumbling, changing the amount of hot that gets to the valve. Is the pressure changing when this happens, or only the temp?

IT could be any number of things but can only be diagnosed by someone at the house checking when and why it happens.

Hi Jim, The temperature is the only thing that changes.

You may have an older non pressure balanced mixer. If someone else in the house uses water the temperature will fluctuate.
If you do have a pressure balanced mixer the balancing valve may be stuck.

What do you have for a mixer valve?
