Pitiless Adaptor Stuck

We are trying to replace our well pump. We can connect a t-bar to the pitiless adaptor, but can't get it to budge. Do we need to loosen that square bit? If so any idea how? It's at least 6 feet down and nothing we have tried works. Thanks!!

Not sure but looks like a spool type pitless. If so that is just a plug and doesn't do anything. Probably just stuck.
