New Delta Faucet already squeaking

I had new a Delta Faucet installed on my bathroom sink about 4 months ago. The cold and hot water handles turned nice and smooth and felt quite nice.
All of a sudden a few days ago when closing the hot water handle it made a loud squeak. I then tested the cold water handle and that one is starting to do it also. It doesn't feel smooth anymore either opening or closing, both handles feel kind of jerky when they are turned, in addition to the squeak.

Does this mean the unit is failing already, or that the washers are faulty, or is this the norm, even for a new unit?

Not the norm, but whether it is the "seats/washers", or the stems we cannot tell you.

Take the cartriges out and take them apart.
Silicone them and reinstall.........
Always take the aerator off first.

I'm not sure what you mean, plumber1? What part of the cartridge are you siliconing? I'm used to pulling them entirely apart and then fitting them back together with various screws and seals. Is this something exclusive to Delta cartridges? I must admit, I haven't had to change too many Delta's out... mostly Tempress ones...

Kristi, I think he is talking about a lav or sink faucet with cartriges for stems.
You've seen them everywhere in the hardware dept.
They come on a bubble pack display.
Grease them up and reinstall......

ahhh yes, the lube... sorry, I took the term "silicone" very literally as well as envisioned a shower cartridge when he clearly said bathroom sink... think I've had too long of a couple weeks and need to read instead of write!!!

other issues

did someting come up the line to get into this faucet???

are you on a well,>> or work being done in the neighborhood
to the water system that might have brought debris into the system>>??

seems odd that both sides would start to grind all at once..


either way, they are very easy to repair..

go to the store where you bought the faucet

and ask for two new lavatory cartridges and simply change them out

the parts have a life time warranty on them so it should be

no big deal. flush the lines out when you got it apart.
