Laundry room, does utility stink and washer drain order matter?

Going off of this photo, can I do the laundry tray below the washer instead of above?

In the photo, it would not have even needed the extra vent based on UPC 'vertical wet venting'.
Would your plan work with today's high efficiency low water use models? Pretty much. But, the code is designed to take into consideration all versions (incl. any type) of WMs.
The code reasoning is that a big slug of water that comes from the WM can potentially suck out the laundry p-trap seal. Reality is not that likely.
