I'm replacing a bath tub that doesn't have an overflow drain in my manufactured house with one that does, is it OK to modify the plumbing to accommodate the overflow?

I had read somewhere that you shouldn't modify the bath tub drain in a mobile or manufactured home to accommodate an overflow but it didn't give a reason.

    Any advice? Thanks!
