Help removing kitchen faucet

Hi,

I need help removing a kitchen faucet. It doesn't have the standard hex nut securing the faucet to the counter. Instead, here is the view from the bottom of the counter. The metal bit above the long spring tube has about 1" of thread, but I don't know how to turn the oddly shaped metal thing that seems to be screwed onto it...

We use the tool "G" after popping the arm in fig. 3. The arm pops up after pulling out the hose after disconnecting the yellow quick-disconnect under the counter and pulling out the hose. You can use channel lock pliers to unscrew the shank "E" if you don't have the tool G.
