I had posted about being "stuck" and got good input and was able to pull the submersble pump out. The well pipe was 1 1/4" galv. and about 1' above the pump the was a hole in the pipe approx 3/8" dia. it was just an open hole. On the top end there is a bladder tank and there was a check valve and a schrader valve. Any Idea what the hole was for??? And is a schrader valve necessary on a bladder tank?

That was probably an air maker for a hydro-pneumatic tank that the bladder tank replaced.
