While doing some research, I came across a water treatment media that I was unfamiliar with called zeolite. Is this similar to Katalox? It supposedly removes iron, manganese and hardness. I found it intriguing as I'm still looking for an alternative to chlorine, GAC, softener, etc.. It seems one of these systems could also free up some space in my basement. Here are my water analysis results from NTL:
Total coliform and E.coli were absent
Aluminum - ND (not detected)
Arsenic - ND
Barium - ND
Cadmium - ND
Calcium - 177.3 mg/L
Chromium - ND
Copper - 0.087 mg/L
Iron - 6.444 mg/L
Lead - 0.003 mg/L
Lithium - 0.020 mg/L
Magnesium - 87.38 mg/L
Manganese 0.067 mg/L
Mercury - ND
Nickel - ND
Potassium - 4.1 mg/L
Selenium - ND
Silica - 16.4 mg/L
Silver - ND
Sodium - 393 mg/L
Strontium - 0.326 mg/L
Uranium - 0.002 mg/L
Zinc - 0.337 mg/L
Alkalinity (total as CaCO3) - 380 mg/L
Hardness - 800 mg/L
pH - 7.2
Total dissolved solids - 1,700 mg/L
Turbidity - 92 NTU
Bromide - ND
Chloride - 760 mg/L
Fluoride - ND
Nitrate - ND
Nitrite - ND
Ortho phosphate - ND
Sulfate - 62.0 mg/L
I currently have the following: atmospheric tank, pressure pump, chlorine injection with a 60 gallon baffled contact tank, carbon filter, softener. Mostly outdated Culligan stuff. I feel the 60 gallon contact tank is not giving me enough contact time.
There is a dealer in the area that offers these zeolite systems that I've been in contact with who is touting good results and has an abundance of positive reviews. I figured I would get a second opinion on here as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
