Do I need to be concerned about using a water softener with copper run through out the house. One companies web site said that the soften water could leech metals from the pipe and erode the pipes over time.
I was not considering PEX but I could if advised to do so?

Maybe. Did your lab water report have a corrosivity number or two reported?

If you read it online then it is probably true. :)

No issues with soft water and copper pipe. It has more to do with your water supply, pH, tds, etc... If you are on a municipal supply then typically not an issue. If you are on your own private well then you need to consider the corrosivity index, Langlier Saturation Index etc.

If you are having your house piped in copper then be sure to have them use type "L" instead of "M".
