Our washing machine, which is in basement, drains into a very tall pipe. We also have a short drain pipe beside it which we guess used to be for a laundry sink, no longer there.
We just bought the house, first time buyers. We know that an owner, 2 owners back, did a lot of Reno himself.
The house inspector said:
--we needed to cap off the open laundry sink pipe where there was an upside down p-trap just sitting on it. So we fastened a flat cap on it
--we needed to install a p-trap on the washing machine drain pipe. From my reading, we might need an AAV as well? Everything drains into the basement floor, and there is no way for us to get any venting to the plumbing stack. Everything is finished.
Any advice/info you can share would be appreciated. (Pic attached)
