Hi good evening. I live in New Jersey and have had mixed responses from local plumbers on what type of valve I can put on my sanitary sewer to prevent blockage.

I looked at the models from JR Smith as well as other cast ones, but interested in other ones ? Brass ball ? Knife gate ?

I will be having this installed in combination with a fullport backwater valve.

Thank you for your advice.

If you must have a shut off valve on your sewer line, don't use a ball valve. the bigger the ball valve the more susceptible they are to locking up.
Use a knife gate valve and exercise it regularly and keep it lubricated if it requires it.

Consider an overhead sewer. More money, but very effective.
