I'm roughing in a pot filler, and I'd like the ability to put a water filter on it. My first thought was to rough in two 1/2" stubs in the cabinet above the range - one will be the "input" side that connects to main water supply line, and the other the "output" side that connects to the pot filler below it. I could then put a stop valve on each one and attach a water filter between them using compression fittings. This has the additional benefit of adding a nearby shut-off valve for the pot filler.

Will this work? And is this a good idea? If not, are there any alternatives? (Besides installing a whole house filter, which I'm not going to do.)
