Had a major leak with the dw, but it wasn't the supply line.

There's a good chance the home insurance will replace the dw entirely.

DW repairman said he didn't want to touch the copper line attached to the dw because he didn't want to take responsibility for any additional leaks.

Can the copper supply line be reused?

ok good.
If I don't say anything, I bet they would rip out the copper and change it to stainless braided

That braided line would be my choice. Copper will last forever, but if you have to pull the DW out for repair or cleaning, you run the risk to kinking it. Braided line being flexible, won't kink. I use the braided line on my ice maker too. Same reason.
