I have a new LG wall oven. Just an oven, no cooktop. Requirements say 30A breaker 240v. And 12Awg wiring. Yes I know that's undersized for the breaker. But the oven has 12Awg stranded coming from it. So that sort of answers my wire gauge question. But why 12awg on a 30A breaker?

Model number of the oven?

Wiring sizes within an appliance or a lighting fixture are governed by different rules (UL listing standard) than wiring that you field install (NEC). So if the oven comes with a #12 whip, that doesn't necessarily mean you use #12 building wiring.
