Hi All,
I am in the process of replacing an old farmhouse sink (faucet probably circa 50's to 60's). The replacement that came w/ the used stainless sink is very leaky, and it didn't survive being pulled apart too well. Even the cheapest front mounts in the box stores start at 60 bucks and seem like junk, so I thought maybe it would be possible to rebuild the old school unit instead. I pulled it apart and it took it ok, only problem was a stuck screw at the end of the valve, which I'll deal with tomorrow.
Below is what I'm dealing with. From what I can tell all washers are beveled, and they are either some sort of plastic or REALLY old rubber. The spout washer feels like it will crumble any second. I paid attention to how it all fit together but wondering if anyone knows of any kits to rebuild this particular type - no idea what the brand is.
The other question is, the bottom of the spout looks like it should have some sort of seal, but all it has is a metal surface (unless that's some sort of washer stuck on it).
Appreciate any advice on the best way to tackle this, or if it looks too far gone, I can just replace. The thing has been in the family a long time though so if I can get this to work, it would be a nice tribute to my old man who liked to keep stuff working
Thanks!
