Hi guys,

I am trying to repair an old leaking hose bib but am having problems identifying the brand and make. Does the logo ("M") on the wheel handle (see attached photo) provide a clue? I want to avoid having to change the whole bib due to access problems on the other side of the wall, and am hoping I can get the right packing nut, which pretty much disintegrated, causing the leak.

Thanks in advance.

Gernot

Are these valves set up like many others so that you can use teflon packing rope if the OEM packing washer is not available??

Many thanks for the ID, quarterball. Will try my luck to hunt down repair parts.

Tried the teflon, Treeman, but the whole packing nut broke apart.

Great question Michael. The Quarter Ball ball valve frostproof sillcock utilizes a ball valve to turn the water on and off. It offers traditional frostproof protection with the modern reliability and convenience of a ball valve. The attached picture might help explain.

I see now. The link you replied to user gbrobnig with did not show this and only showed regular silcocks. Thanks for the heads up on what looks like an awesome product! What is the brand name and where do I get them? Do any models meet lead-free requirements? Winter is fast approaching here in the mountains of Colorado...

The brand name is Quarter Ball. We have several on-line distributors: Grainger, SupplyHouse, Complete Plumbing Source, Plumbing Supply, Amazon. I will paste the links below. Regarding lead-free, these are non-potable items intended for lawn irrigation and other similar tasks. Therefore they are not part of the lead-free requirements.

Hope this helps-
