not softening... symptoms

Kenmore softener. 8 yrs. old. Stopped softening recently. Long story short. I drained thoroughly cleaned everything. Seems like the backwash is working. When it goes to bring brine into the resin it seems like nothing is happening. The brine tank does not change level.

Then it is not able to suck brine; causes are loose compression fittings, blocked injectgor, and/or injector screen. Maybe a stuck closed float valve.
