I was replacing the pull down spray head and hose on my Moen kitchen sink. The hose connects to a quick connect connection (uses a tab/clip to secure the hose to the faucet). When I was pulling the old spray hose out some piece fell out of the quick connect connection and I'm not sure what it is and if it's necessary to reinstall? I can't find much information about it, but I think it's a check valve? If so, is it fine to leave it operational without reinstalling it? I've attached some pictures if the piece and would really appreciate any help!

Pictures wouldn't upload, so here's some links.

Check valves are in there for water supply safety. If the spray hose were to be submerged in dirty water and there was a break in the public water main - for example- the check valve prevents contaminated flow backward.

Is that what looks like in my pictures? A check valve?
