Considering a whole house reply.

would like to hear from anybody that has PERT pipes installed in their house, especially legend valve hyper pure. What has been your experience? How long have you had it? Any problems with leaks etc.?

Thank you.

We haven't used it, but it looks cool. Might have to have our rep come in and see what they say about it.

I have found some inconsistency with the joints. I will say don't use the zurn rings if your going to expand it.

We've installed it a few times, it needs more time to shrink down than does pex A. I think with good quality rings like uponor or soiux cheif I might have had better consistency.

One of the guys at out shop did a whole job with the PERT pipe and zurn rings and had so many leaks he tore it all out and redid it with uponor pex a.

I think the zurn rings are too loose and don't shrink as much as other brands for whatever reason.

I would use it again. I just wouldn't bury it without turning the water on first. Once it's in and not leaking it's fine.

Wow so did the 100 year warranty pay him to go with Uponor? A bunch of leaks sucks was he just using the wrong stuff unrated for the use ? not all pex b is expandable pex b dosent shrink so to speak thats why we dont use type b to expand except certain ones . The OD of product brands I thought were identical . any way It be interesting to know how and why
Legend valve has " smart click" and " clear loc" shark bite type stuff you guys using that stuff? probebly less leaks I just dont know what to trust. I have several monthes solid of Uponor experiance and despite the few complaints on this site Im still somewhat respectful of thier product

Zurn Rings seem to fit very Loosely over the pipe versus even or other brands that are actually kind of hard to slide on.

Identical is a pretty high bar, usually there is a tolerance one way or the other certain manufacturers are closer to the small side of the tolerance and summer closer to the big side of the tolerance.

I would be curious if he followed up with Legend to see what they had to say about his installation, he never did.

Got it John, I guess its hard to know all the details , might not have been legends fault at all, kinda joking somepeople think the warranty means its gotta be good, and I dont know it could very well be good product and just the rings by zurn.

I have used it to replace some hydronic radiators, with crimp rings. The only thing I did not is it does not seem as abrasion resistant as pex. Brand was VIPERT.

I'd bet money that the warranty stipulates that the warranty only covers the installation if the fittings are made up with manufacture matching parts.
of cource they would never pay a claim for defective material from another manufacture , or a nail hole , or hack work uncrimped joints . rat chewed etc.... We wont know what this case involved other than reported lots of leaks and that zurn rings were used and john says zurn rings fit loose dont know whose barbs were used ? even a small nick will leak I nicked one myself and had a drip on test befor. learned my lesson there!
Just gotta take this as one report Im sure John is as accurate as he can be , Im neither convinced hyper pure or Zurn is at fault nor his associate from work.
I was kinda joking about the warranty 100 years , It is sticking thier neck out probebly hiding thier money in a swiss bank for when the class actions start. Kidding again LOL. Hoping for succesful product from all our manfactures !

So Legend doesn't offer expansion rings?

Zurn does offer an expansion head for the Milwaukee style power expansion tool that seems to improve on the original Uponor/Milwaukee head and fits in any power tool like Milwaukee and DeWalt. I wonder if that expansion head would help seal PEX B and PE-RT pipe better?

Zurn expansion head.

Not sure. The company that sells pert locally sells it with zurn expansion fittings and rings.

I dont think there is a legit reason that any f1960 fitting cant be used together but thanks for sharing your findings hope someone brought this to zurn and legend attention
