Big, important point...neutral is a current carrying conductor. Ground is a safety path and should never have current on it except in a fault condition that is designed to trip the safety circuit (fuse or CB). Confusing the two could get you killed or injure someone else that didn't detect or expect that fault condition. If you do not understand the distinction, you should not be playing with or advising others on electricity!

This is awkward, but...
