I am about to install a 60 gallon electric HWT and need straps. The only ones at the big box store are very crude. I have a narrow mechanical room with equipment at the back that needs periodic maintenance and i don't want sharp metal edges sticking out of the front of the HWT. Also, the simplistic design assumes the studs are right where you need them - exactly either side of the tank.

Any recommendations for better straps?

I saw one system using a shallow unistrut to span 2 or 3 studs, then the straps anchored into the unistrut. This seemed like a great solution to the studs problem. Unfortunately i couldn't determine who made them etc.

Thanks

John

1. Use pipe foam insulation to wrap the straps.
2. Wrap the straps with 2" wide pipe tape, so the straps are not as sharp.
