I have 3200 grain softener with a fleck 5600stx.
Question on feed water hardness H number calculation to enter in programming. I'm seeing a variety of calculations out there, manual says one thing and internet states others. Anyone have something tried and tried to utilize. To include the water samples hardness, iron and manganese of anything else I have left out.. my apologies if I missed it on the forum already..tks

The Hach 5-B kit is very good for measuring hardness. If you have well water, you want to get a lab water test to measure more than hardness. So if you have such numbers, what is your hardness, iron, and manganese?

Internet is not monolithic. If you are asking what numbers you should plug in, that is different from asking what all goes into coming up with the numbers.

EDITED: Let me say that it was probably "32000" in the marketing literature. Take that as only a convention that you have 1 cuft of resin, which typically is in a 9x48 inch tank. Do not use 32000 as the C number.

I do have well water, test was done at a certified Ag lab.
The hardness is 5.14 gpg (88mg/l)
The iron is .320 mg/l
The manganese is .850 mg/l (very high)
PH 6.6 for reference
Wanting to confirm the formula for end result.
Was going to try utilizing green salt to help keep resin cleaner

5.14+(5*.320)+.850=8.44. Round up to 9 for H.

How many people? That affects the reserve calculation. Usually you figure 60 gallons per day per person.

System info (not programmed)
salt lb/cuft = 7.5 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
BLFC = 0.5 ; Brine Refill rate GPM
cubic ft resin = 1 ; ft3 resin = (nominal grains)/32,000
Compensated hardness = 9 ; including any compensation
People = 1 ; gallons affects reserve calc
Estimated gal/day = 60 ; 60 gal per person typical calc
Estimated days/regen = 40.81 ; Computed days including reserve

Fleck 5600SXT Settings:
DF = Gal ; Units
VT = dF1b ; Downflw/, Single Backwash, black cam
CT = Fd ; Meter Delayed regen trigger
NT = 1 ; Number of tanks
C = 23.0 ; capacity in 1000 grains
H = 9 ; Hardness-- compensate if needed
RS = rc ; rc says use gallons vs percent
RC = 60 ; Reserve capacity gallons
DO = 28 ; Day Override (maybe lower to compensate for iron)
RT = 2:00 ; Regen time (default 2 AM)
BW = 5 ; Backwash (minutes)
Bd = 60 ; Brine draw minutes
RR = 5 ; Rapid Rinse minutes
BF = 5 ; Brine fill minutes
FM = ____0.7 ; https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?attachments/img_fleck5600sxt_flow-png.31592/

Alternate:

The less salt per cubic ft, the more salt efficient, but more hardness breakthrough.
Revised based on number from https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/help-for-programming-fleck-5810.82673/#post-595983
BLFC = 0.5
cubic ft resin = 1

Alternative C and BF pairs:
lb/cuft ; C= ; BF=
4.500 ; 18.0 ; 3 #too lean for most people.
6.000 ; 21.0 ; 4 #common for less salt, and a good choice
7.500 ; 23.3 ; 5 # corresponds to above settings.
9.000 ; 25.2 ; 6 #silkier water.

Round C numbers down.
